Biography

Starting November 1, 2009, Rick Simonson holds the position of Executive Vice President and head of the Mobile Phones entity within the Devices unit. He also heads strategic sourcing for the whole of the Devices unit.

In his previous role, Rick was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Nokia Corporation with responsibility for group Finance and Control, Internal Audit, Treasury, Investor Relations, Mergers & Acquisitions, Indirect Sourcing and Venture Capital Investments. He joined Nokia in 2001 as Vice President, Head of Customer Finance. Prior to joining Nokia, Mr. Simonson spent most of his 16 years in banking at Bank of America Securities, where his last position was Managing Director & Head of Global Project Finance, Global Corporate & Investment Bank, San Francisco. Global Project Finance provided advisory and debt capital raising services to major global operators and vendors in the Telecommunication, Power, Oil & Gas and Infrastructure industries.

Rick has been a member of the Group Executive Board of Nokia since January 1, 2004 and a member of the Board of Nokia Siemens Networks since its formation on April 1, 2007. He is a non-executive Board member of Electronic Arts, Inc since 2006 and as of July 2009 the Lead Director. He is a Trustee of the International House – New York, a not for profit educational organization.

Rick holds a bachelor's degree in science and mining engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, and a master's degree in business administration and finance from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Rick was born August 26, 1958, in Middletown, Ohio, USA. He is married and has five children. In his spare time, he enjoys running, mountain hiking, downhill skiing and a bit of golf.
