We have been working together with WWF, the global conservation organization, since 2003
to find new ways of enhancing Nokia's environmental performance and increasing the environmental awareness of everyone in the company, while at the same time supporting nature conservation.
WWF supports us in our aim to become a leading company in terms of environmental performance. We cooperate on environmental awareness-building among Nokia employees, and on selected operational areas like take-back campaigning. We work with WWF to create e-learning sessions on environmental topics for Nokia employees around the world. We have also jointly organized workshops, road shows and business case programs for our employees, as well as seminars for our external stakeholders.
Since January 2008 Nokia is also a member of Climate Savers, a programme where WWF and businesses collaborate to show leadership in addressing climate change. Being a member of the WWF Climate Savers programme reinforces our commitment to energy saving in our operations, ways of working and products.
Nokia powers connect2earth, the green on-line community launched by WWF and IUCN in early 2008, to enable to connect young people with the world’s top environmental experts to talk about headline-grabbing topics that they care about, by uploading videos, pictures and comments.
In addition, photos and videos from WWF have been used as pre-installed content in some Nokia devices. WWF is providing content for Green Explorer – a free service for greener travel and living.
We have been also supporting several local WWF projects, such as the Operation Mermaid project in the Baltic Sea and water protection in Mexico.
